Vapor-X Overclocking
Overclocking the Sapphire Radeon HD 5870 Vapor-X graphics card with the ATI Overdrive utility that is part of the CATALYST Control Center is fairly simple. When you 'unlock' the ATI Overdrive, you can manually set the clock and memory settings or let the 'auto-tune' utility set the frequencies for you. This gives you a modest boost in performance, but is usually limited by the utility itself as AMD always plays it safe. Let's see what we can get with ATI Overdrive.

The Sapphire Radeon HD 5870 Vapor-X Video Card Overclocked 890MHz/1290MHz:

Running 3DMark Vantage with the Extreme
preset we got a score of X8468 with the card pulled right out of the box and plugged into the system. The score went up X8685 3DMarks when
overclocked with Overdrive, which was an improvement of 2.5%. Not bad,
but to get any higher you'll need to use a different overclocking utility as you will be limited by ATI OverDrive.
