Intel Shows off MIDs Running Moblin

Intel also has Claire Alexander on hand, who spoke about Moblin. Moblin is an optimized Linux platform that provides a modern, engaging user experience for mobile devices, such as netbooks, MIDs, and IVI systems. Moblin has a common core of Application and User Interface services and APIs, which provide application developers a rich and consistent development environment across multiple device form factors.

Moblin v2.1 was announced this morning at the 2009 Intel Developer forum. Details of the new features in v2.1 were pretty sparse, but we have some pictures for you to look at.

Here is one of the touch enabled interfaces that allows you to scroll through the different open windows on the MID.

Intel also had an Acer Aspire on display that was running Moblin with a next generation Arrandale 32nm processor! Lots of interesting information flowing out of IDF 2009 today, so be sure to check back often for new content this week!
