Thoughts and Conclusion
In today's hard times, everyone is looking for the biggest bang for their buck when it comes to anything, especially computers! When it comes to budget computers, ASUS certainly seems to deliver with their lines of netbooks!
The ASUS Eee PC 1005HA was king when it came to battery life. What else can we say when a battery lasts a whopping 10 hours and xx minutes at idle by just unplugging. We didn't alter the default monitor brightness at all. ASUS seems to have found a very low power consuming LCD screen for the 1005HA!
Benchmarks were also another strong point for the 1005HA Seashell. In almost all tests, the 1005HA performed slightly faster than its 1000HE predecessor. Both feature an Intel N280 Atom processor that runs 60MHz faster than the other netbooks with the N270 processor. The only test that the 1005HA didn't come out on top with was our HD Tune test. With only a SATA I hard drive, the max transfer rates were somewhat limited. However... we feel this is completely masked by the fact that we have a cost efficient netbook in our hands that lasts over 10 hours on a single charge! That is what netbooks are all about.
With an Intel Atom N280 Processor, a 160GB HDD and a 10.5 hour battery life at idle, this netbook delivers! At just $379.99 plus shipping at the time of this article, this Seashell certainly has the potential to be a great netbook for anyone in the market for a budget computer.
Legit Bottom Line: The ASUS Eee PC 1005HA PU1X Seashell Netbook is a great solution for anyone looking for a very affordable and portable computer.
