Amazon Free Two-Day Delivery Now $35 Minimum for Non Prime Members

Amazon has lowered their minimum price requirement for free two-day delivery. However, this does not affect Amazon Prime subscribers. Those who have held off from subscribing pay about thirty percent less to qualify their select purchases for free two-day delivery. Amazon’s free shipping minimum is now $35 instead of $49.

Amazon’s sudden change of policy occurred over this past weekend. Amazon also changed the minimum price policy on books as well. Books will now meet the two day free delivery requirement at $25. Amazon announced, You receive free shipping if your order includes at least $35 of eligible items or $25 of books (in which case all other eligible items in the order also ship free). Any item with “FREE Shipping” messaging on the product detail page, that is fulfilled and shipped by Amazon, is eligible and contributes to your free shipping order minimum. This recent change of policy is a possible strategy change to compete with Walmart offering customers free two-day shipping on over two million select items. Walmart no longer requires a membership fee to allow customers to save on two-day free shipping.

Walmart made the change from a minimum of $50 to $35 in January to enforce their no membership fee. It is possible this event gave Amazon a force of hand to compete with delivery changes.

If anyone who currently pays for Amazon Prime feels snubbed, let us not forget additional benefits included with the subscription. Prime Video and Amazon Music Unlimited is offered with Amazon Prime subscriptions which allow unlimited streaming without intrusive ads. Prime Reading also offers a plethora of free e-books with capability to borrow books from other fellow kindle owners through Kindle Owners Lending Library. Twitch Prime also allows gamers to have an ad free experience when viewing Twitch. These are just a few of many benefits Amazon Prime subscribers receive with the $99 subscription.
