For a long time now Alienware has been known to make some of the most high end, technologically advanced gaming computers on the market. They have been well known among the PC gaming community for a while, but among the console community, they are not as well known. In the future though, this may completely change. One of the most highly anticipated pieces of hardware at this years’ E3 convention is coming from two of PC gaming worlds giants, the aforementioned Alienware and Valve, the company responsible for not only huge gaming franchises like Left 4 Dead, Portal, Half-Life and Team Fortress, but also created the incredibly popular gaming service known as Steam.

Alienware Steam MachineAlienware and Steam have banded together to create the Steam Machine. The Steam Machine intends to provide the versatility and quality of a PC gaming experience with the accessibility of a home console. What makes this new hardware unique is that it runs on SteamOS a new operating system developed by Valve. It also comes with a new and extremely innovative Steam controller. This should not however be confused with the Alienware Alpha, which comes with an Xbox 360 controller and still runs on Windows and uses an Xbox 360 controller.

We should see quite a bit more information about these anticipated Steam Machine and new Steam titles at this years E3, and who knows, even though it may be late to contend toe-to-toe with the heavyweight contenders in the console war, it could still give all the others a run for their money.
