Activision Bringing the Big Guns to E3 2015

Activision-logoActivision is one of the biggest names in the gaming industry and at this years E3 they certainly came out in force. One of the biggest games of the show was certainly Call of Duty: Black Ops III. Whether it was t-shirts, giant posters in both of the main halls, or the extremely long line to try the game, its safe to say that Call of Duty was everywhere. It was surprising however, to see the official multiplayer reveal for Black Ops III at Sonys press conference, considering the franchise has traditionally been associated with Microsofts Xbox. The multiplayer looked as fast and furious as ever, and we even got to see a few new weapons including a bow adding some variety to a series often accused of being incredibly repetitive.

On the Skylanders front, there was some very interesting news. Not only are vehicles coming to Skylanders, but classic Nintendo characters are being brought in as well. Each of these figures, Donkey Kong and Bowser will each have their own figures along with their own vehicles. In addition to these figures becoming part of the Skylanders universe, they will also be functional as Amiibo of that specific character. These are the first figures of their type that function as both Skylanders and Amiibo, but perhaps they will not be the last.

In the world of Destiny, the new expansion The Taken King was a hit at this years E3. Drawing huge crowds at both the Activision and Sony booths. What makes this game different from the previous two expansions, which have both been digital, is that it is receiving a full retail release. Speaking of its release, the leaks that occurred a few days before have been confirmed, and we the battle with the Taken King begins on 09/15/15.

And last but certainly not least in Activisions E3 lineup is the revival of the Guitar Hero franchise with Guitar Hero: Live. Offering a completely new Guitar Hero experience by including an interactive crowd that will offer the player a good idea of whether they are doing well or poorly. Another new aspect of this Guitar Hero is the complete overhaul of the controller. The new guitar peripheral for this game looks much closer to a real guitar not only in terms of design, but also the button layout, thus affecting gameplay in a huge way.

Activision may not have had a ton of games to show off this year, but the games they did show definitely had a huge impact on the show and have certainly gotten quite a few people hyped for the upcoming year in gaming.
