A Closer Look At AMD 790GX Gaming

Gaming on the 790GX Platform

790gx game testing

As we stated in the 790GX launch review that we did on the Asus M3A78-T motherboard, at the settings we used with the nVidia 9600GT, we did not expect to see great numbers from the AMD 3300IGP, the HD3450, or even great numbers using Hybrid. The AMD parts used are not meant to compete with the 9600GT, and certainly are not meant to run todays demanding games at their full settings. They are intended to be able to play these games at lower resolutions, and lower details, giving the average going an enjoyable gaming experience. With that in mind, we decided to go back and lower some settings to see what we got at more realistic settings for these parts.

So, let’s refresh on memories on the setup we are using, and then take a quick look at the numbers we were able to get once we lowered several of our settings and re-ran our gaming benches.
